Children In A Dysfunctional Household
Studies has shown that there is a certain pattern that we grow up with. Every child, from the eldest to the youngest has a role to play.
In a dysfunctional household it will work out like this:
1. The Eldest Child
This child is the Rescuer [the responsible child]
This child would make believe that everything is fine to help him to cope with his instinctive protection of the younger siblings. He will keep his feelings in tight control so that the other children won't worry about their circumstances. He will try to protect them as much as he can.
2. The Second Child
This child is the Black Sheep [the rebellious child]
He will always be in trouble. He makes trouble so that he can divert the attention to himself, and away from the home front where things are running out of control.
3. The Third Child
This child is the Lost Child [the adjuster of the truth]
This child would lie and make stories up about how perfect the family is. This child will have school problems.
4. The Youngest Child
This child is the Clown [the mascot]
This child would make jokes about everything, and he will hide behind his jokes. He has no interest in education.
Comment. It takes a lot of adjusting when a couple decide to have children ... and they have a lot of obstructions that they must beat. They should think twice, and be mighty sure, before they have children.
The life patterns of their children starts here, even before they were born.
It works like this:
1. Two people fell in love and they move in together ... they have to adapt
2. The first baby is born ... they have to adapt and share the responsibility
3. The second baby is born ... they have to adapt again
4. Dad develops other interest and moves out ... the family must adapt again
5. The first child must move into dad's role and take it from there.
