Greek Mythology ... Where it all started

theory sons of God
Gaia and Uranus ... the parents of the Titans

Genesis 6 verse 2 tells us: 'That the sons of God saw the daughters of men were fair, and took them wives of all that they can choose.'

They were here on earth in the time that God decided to flood the earth, to rid Himself from the evil of men ... approximately 2616 BC.

According to the Greek Mythology timeline did the Titans and Olympians also lived during the time of the sons of God.

The Flood came in the year 2496 BC, which means that the sons of God were on the earth for more than 200 years, before they died.

There were 12 Titans : 6 sons and 6 daughters ...

Their mother was called Gaia ... personified as Mother Earth and she had both sexes to pro-create.  She inpregnated herself and she gave birth to a son and called him Uranus.

One version says: ' She was an early earth goddess and it is written that Gaia was born from Chaos, the great void of emptiness within the universe, and with her came Eros. She gave birth to Pontus (the Sea) and Uranus (the Sky). This was achieved parthenogenetically (without male intervention).'

[chronicled list and info on the Titans and Olympians ...

Gaia and Uranus became the parents of the Titans.

The story goes that  Uranus, being afraid of the power and strength of the children, threw the children back into Gaia's womb ... Tartarus [the bowels of the earth] ... as soon as they were born.  She was getting uncomfortable with all the children in her womb, but she could not prevent him from raping her, because he was The Sky.

So she made a plan to stop him.

She needed the help of her children ... the Olympians.

Only her son, Cronus, responded.  She gave him a sharp sickle, and he waited for his father to come.

When Uranus came that night to lay with Gaia, Cronus surprised Uranus by grabbing his testicles with his left hand and chopped it off with the sickle in his right hand.  He then threw it in the sea.

Cronus and Rhea [brother and sister] became the parents of the Olympians.  They produced 6 children ... 3 daughters and 3 sons ... Zeus, Poseidon, Hades and Hera, Demeter and Hestia.

The Olympians then fought for 10 years before they finally overthrew the Titans.
