Religions: The Muslim Belief

The Muslim believer is related to Islam ... Islam is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion, called the Qur'an.

The Muslim religion believes that God is eternal and absolutely one, and absolutely incomparable.

The Muslims believe that Islam is the universal religion of a primordial faith that was previously revealed through the prophets Abraham, Moses and Jesus.

This religion is of the belief that previous messages and revelations have been partially corrupted through time, and that the Qur'an is the only true version of the Holy Word.

The Muslims accept anyone into their faith who publicly pronounce the Shahadah [declaration of faith], which states: 'I testify that there is no god except for the God, and I testify that Mohammad is the Messenger of God.'

They believe that Mohammad is the final prophet, and therefore the Seal of the Prophets.

The Qur'an considers Adam, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses and Jesus and His apostles as prophets and messengers.

They are also considered by the Qur'an as Muslim, because they submitted to God, preached His message and upheld His values ... including prayer, fasting, pilgrimage and charity.

According to the Muslim belief God had given the Torah [Holy Book of Islam] to Moses, the Psalms to David and the Gospel to Jesus, before the time of the Qur'an.

Their basic religious practices are combined in the Five Pillars of Islam, which consist of daily prayers [salat], fasting during Ramadan [sawm], almsgiving [sakat] and the pilgramage of Mecca [hajj] and Shahadah, at least once in a lifetime.

The majority of Muslims are the Sunni ... 75 to 90 percent, and the second largest sect is the Shia ... 10 to 20 percent.
